JB dropped from Forbes powerful women’s list

Former president Joyce Banda’s international profile has dipped during her time out of office as she has dropped out of this year’s Forbes Magazine’s acclaimed 100 most powerful women list.
When she ascended to the presidency in April 2012 in line with constitutional order following the death of former president Bingu wa Mutharika, the magazine named Banda among the world’s most influential women and the most powerful on the African continent.
But this year, Banda has missed out as the magazine cited her relinquishing of power as the main factor in its decision.

While Banda tumbled out, US Democrat presidential hopeful and former secretary of State Hillary Clinton has risen to second position while Germany Chancellor Angel Merkel was for the fifth consecutive year running named the most powerful woman in the world.
There is no African in the top 10.
According to magazine’s website, the list is Forbes’ “definitive annual audit of the foremost heads of state, iconic entrepreneurs and CEOs, celebrity role models, billionaire activists, and pioneer philanthropists, all ranked by money, media momentum, spheres of influence and impact.”
Clinton, who like Melinda Gates has strong ties with Malawi, has appeared on the Forbes ranking every year since it was launched in 2004 as a senator, secretary of State and influential personality.

  1. Even JB realized it was all an elaborate illusion. But it was fun while it lasted. Anyway, she has more on her mind now than being on the Forbe’s list. I bet she’s praying day and night that she also gets dropped from the ACB’s list.

  2. Really? Do think ACB will leave her? I doubt so much. If she is free, the Law will set her free.
