Kachepatsonga defends Protea Ryalls Golf

 

Zone VI golfer Victor Kachepatsonga’s dominance in Protea Ryalls Golf continued at the weekend when he won the tournament for the third time in a row.

Kachepatsonga beat a field of 110 golfers at Lilongwe Golf Club (LGC) to emerge the king in the tournament that was played over two days starting from Saturday. He had a 153 gross to pip Dan Phiri (157) on second position while Adam Sailesi finished third with 162 gross.

In   A Division, teenage sensation Aadil Parker beat a hordes of veteran golfers, including national team players, to be the champion. Haas Hamdani was his runner-up while Abudul Vindani was third. In Division B, the honours went to Mathews Kamanga, Mukesh Vash came second and Henry Mzima was third.

In the women’s category, it was Susan Makin who came out tops while M. Kim was her runner-up.

In his victory speech Kachepatsonga thanked Protea Ryalls for sponsoring the tournament. He also paid tribute to Henry Odillo and John Msonthi for the support they gave him on the course.

“My best performance was on Saturday and today it was just practice. My chipping was good and that was the key to my success. It was a wonderful tournament with wonderful prizes,” said Kachepatsonga.

Apart from the trophy and K90 000 shopping voucher at any Into Sports shop, Protea Ryalls rewarded Kachepatsonga with a two nights’ accommodation and food treat at their hotel in Blantyre.

Protea Ryalls Hotel general manager Mischa Lehner was overwhelmed by the huge representation of golfers.

“We really are happy to have all these golfers patronise our golf. We get most of our business from Lilongwe and this event is one way of saying thank you to our valued customers here. This is very impressive attendance and we say thank you Lilongwe,” said Lehner

Lehner said there was no loser as all golfers who participated have been offered free two nights accommodation at Protea Ryalls.

LGC captain Justice Ken Manda also thanked Protea Ryalls for the tournament, saying it was a big success.
