Kafatia demands first round fixtures

Charles Kafatia, chairperson of Southern Region Referees Appointments Committee (SRRAC), has demanded the release of the 2015 TNM Super League first-round fixtures to be played in the region.

Such fixtures, which are released months in advance elsewhere, would enable the committee plan for inspection and allocation of referees, Kafatia noted.

“Your ground inspection team in the Southern Region should include either at least one qualified referee instructor to advise you on the technical defects of the field markings and sizes of the goals,” he explained.

“This problem is prevalent in Balaka and Nchalo, and although this was pointed out to the ground owners last season, nothing was done to rectify the defects.”

Kafatia further condemned the tendency of teams to ignore pre-match meetings and conducting warm up exercises behind goal posts as unacceptable.

“Last season, many teams did not value the importance of pre-match meetings. Either they did not report, or reported late or sent wrong team officials to the meetings. We would like to request you to strongly advise the teams to attend all organised pre-match meeting on time,” Kafatia explained.

There was no immediate reply to Kafatia’s circular from the Super League of Malawi (Sulom) general secretary Williams Banda as we went to press yesterday.

Earlier, Banda had called on all stakeholders such as coaches, fans and officials to desist from uttering provocative remarks next season and also to be conversant with rules and regulations.
