Katimba does it again!

The relaunch of Thocco Katimba’s Ndiimabe in Malawi’s capital, Lilongwe, attracted hundreds of fans even though Malawians are mourning Bingu wa Mutharika who died last week.

Sheaffer Marquee was full during the unveiling of the top-selling gospel ace’s third album on Sunday, but the audience could not outnumber the queues that endured a downpour at Robin’s Park in Blantyre last week.

Some people thought the show had been cancelled in honour of Mutharika, while others were at the door by 1pm.

After an interlude of CD replays, Marvellous Deeds were the first to perform live. They were followed by Mzuzu-based Masudi Khonje and Donnex Muva as well as Evance Mereka and Vincent Kadzakumanja of Mwalibaba fame, Patience Namadingo before Katimba took over.

The Werenga Madalitso star played Undipatse Mpata,  Usadabwe Neba and Anaphiri which was welcomed with fans flying mops in the air.

After the show, Katimba said the album has already sold about 50 000 copies in two and a half months.
