Hip-hop star Kay-Man has been appointed goodwill ambassador for Mzuzu Youth Organisation in respect of his good behaviour among other young artists.
The appointment was unveiled during this year’s HIV and Aids sensitisation campaign that the organisation conducted at Zolozolo Clinic where the artist also performed.
The 2014 MBC-TV award winner will be championing the organisation’s charity works in Mzuzu which revolve around empowering young women. He will also serve as an advocate for the organisation’s campaigns in promoting youth participation in various development projects.
Announcing the accolade to scores of youths who turned up for the events at Zolozolo Clinic, Mzuzu Youth Organisation chairperson James Mhango said the organisation’s board has selected Kay-Man, not only because he is a famous musician, but due to his good behaviour.
Mhango said the artist will now be entrusted with the organisation’s activities in mobilising youths to be active citizens.

“You are aware that we have challenges ahead of us; we have therefore, come up with this initiative of selecting youth ambassadors so that they should be agents of behaviour change to their fellow youths,” said Mhango.
He said there are several social challenges that the artist will support the organisation in stopping such problems.
The ambassador accolade has come at the right time for Kay-Man as he has recently recorded a song Pamodzi, which encourages youths to work together in dealing with several challenges that negatively affect them.
In an interview, the artist said being involved in charity works is his hobby, adding that he has been involved in promotion of girls’ education for several years.
“Being asked to serve as ambassador is truly humbling,” said Kay-Man. “The chance to make a real difference is not an opportunity that everyone is given and is one I have no intention of taking lightly. Youth rights are something so inextricably linked with who I am, so deeply personal and rooted in my life that I can’t imagine an opportunity more exciting. I still have so much to learn, but as I progress I hope to bring more of my individual knowledge, experience and awareness to this role.”
Kay-Man came to light in 2009 after releasing his debut single Swaga Yabo.
