If I were

Khumbo Kachali

Minister of Health and Vice-President of the Republic of Malawi, I would do something about the ongoing strike by some medical personnel at Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH), which is affecting lives of many Malawians.

If I were Bwana Kachali I would realise that death of people as a result of a strike, is a cause for concern.

Yes, it is important that I should be seen attending to my boss-President Joyce Banda’s functions-such as the installation of Paramount Chief Kyungu in Karonga, but I would realise that issues threatening lives of people need immediate attention.

Oh yes! How I wish I were Right Honourable Khumbo Kachali; MP, because I would appreciate that the issue needs government’s attention.

If I were the Minister responsible for Health who also happens to be the country’s Veep, I would realise that when patients are stranded to the effect of lying on the floor due to lack of attention, then something is terribly wrong.

That is of course if I were Right Hon. Kachali, unfortunately I am not him. I am a mere scribe!
