Kips Restaurants Company has fired up Genetrix Hockey Club’s preparedness ahead of the FMB 11-A-Side Hockey League decider this Saturday at Hockey Stadium in Blantyre with meals worth about K100 000.

Genetrix Men are at the summit of the five-team log table with 16 points from six games and they will retain the championship if they beat second-placed Nyala, who have 11 points from five games.

Genetrix Women also top the five-team ladies’ section with 10 points from six games and they will be declared champions if they win against Nyala Women, who are third with seven points from six outings. Simba are second, having accumulated nine points from the same number of games.

“We are proud to be associated with a successful hockey club in the domestic league. I promise that our relationship will continue if Genetrix defend the league titles and we know they will not fail,”  the company’s personnel manager Alex Chipeta, who was accompanied by general manager Daniyal Shafqat, said during a symbolic meal presentation in Blantyre on Saturday.

This is the second time Kips has supported Genetrix with meals. They did the same when the men’s team went to Zambia last month for an invitational club tournament. At the event, Genetrix Men finished fifth out of seven contestants.

On his part, Genetrix general secretary Chigo Thindwa expressed delight with the support, saying it will go a long way in motivating their players.

In other fixtures this Saturday, Scorpions and Braves will face off in both men’s and women’s encounters. n
