Kukoma Diamonds get Airtel Money tourney boost

Capital Oil Refining Industry (Cori) yesterday set out its romance with Kukoma Diamonds by oiling the netball outfit’s trip to Mzuzu with K250 000 for the Airtel Money National Netball Trophy tournament.
Cori’s sales and marketing manager Chrispin Sinjani said the starter pack will not be part of the yet to be unveiled sponsorship.

He said the donation was meant to inspire the team to perform well at the finals.
“It is just a starter pack and we will not include the amount when we unveil the package. It is just a donation to help the side travel to Mzuzu. Currently we are finalising contractual issues and the package would be announced later,” he said.
Sinjani said they expect the team to shine at the finals that are expected to get underway tomorrow at Katoto Secondary School.
“We want to be associated with a winning brand. We also understand that the results haven’t been good lately. We know that they finished as runners-up in three previous national tournaments.
“We are also aware that they are the defending champions of the league. As Kukoma we will look into issues that have affected their performance to see how best to support the side,” Sinjani said.
The team’s technical director Isaac Chimwala said they were humbled and promised to work hard.
“We are yet to get funding from the actual sponsorship, but they have given us K250 000 just for our travel to Mzuzu. We will try our best not to disappoint our sponsor,” he said.
