The position of secretary went to Mukeshi Vashi while Brian Longwe is the deputy.

The two were also elected unopposed. Sean Raman is the greens keeper.

Adam Sailesi, Victor Kachepatsonga, Runil Patel, Jason Bowler and Chris Mpanga are ordinary members.

In his acceptance speech, Shycall said his immediate task is to restore the corporate world’s trust to increase the number of sponsored tournaments.

The annual report submitted by the outgoing committee revealed that out of the 30 golf tournaments they had during their term, only 13 were sponsored.

“This is not healthy for the club. Golfers always want to have a sponsored tournament every week. Corporate world trust should never be assumed. It’s earned. We need to reposition ourselves and work with integrity to inspire greater investment,” said Shycall.

LGC board member Charles Mvula, who presided over the elections, said he believes the new committee has the capacity to perform well.

Veteran golfer Stallard Mpata expressed optimism that things at the club will change for the better. n
