Linah, Ma Blacks to headline Nkopola Summer Splash

Linah  Sanga of the Ole Themba fame is one of the musicians who will headline the Nkopola Summer Music Splash to be held from September 17-18 2016.

Organisers of the event, Smooth Touch Promotions, say the event has been organised to drum up support for the country’s tourism and culture.

Other musicians to perform at the event include Black Missionaries Band, and Zambia’s B1, Piksy, BlakJak, Moses Makawa, Blaze, Bucci and Ace James.

Director of Smooth Touch Promotions, Godfrey Kachimanga said September being the tourism month, the country needs a multi-sectoral approach to achieve its intended purpose.

 

“We believe music has power to promote the country’s tourism hence, organising Nkopola Summer Music Splash. We want to use the platform to sell Malawi’s tourism to its fullest,” he said.

Kachimanga said Malawi has a number of cultural activities and tourist attraction sites resorts as well as traditional dances that can help generate foreign exchange (forex) for the country.

He said: “Since we are engaging the services of B1 from Zambia and Linah Sanga from Tanzania, the event stands to attract foreigners because it is being publicised in these two countries as well.”

Kachimanga added the event will bring together a blend of music genres among them urban music.

Commenting on the event, local musician Moses Makawa of Khuzumule fame said he is excited to be part of the tourism drive.

“As a musician, I am set to use the event to sell Malawi better. People should be able to appreciate Malawi’s culture through the music we play,” he said.
