Lucius Banda sets Monkey Bay on fire

Soldier Lucius Banda on Friday led a battalion of his Zembani Band to offer a scintillating performance in Monkey Bay, which gig goers appreciated.

The performances came from Banda, Nepman, Ril B and Sam Smack and was held at Afeyo  Village Lodge at Monkey Bay Trading Centre.

Lucius mesmerised his fans with a number of hits such as Paulendo, Wandikwatiradi, Kheliwe, Mukawatule and Njoka mu Udzu among other beats, which had the fans on the dance floor. In a nutshell, Lucius dished out over 15 songs from a mixture of his albums.

Gave a spirited performance: Banda

He performed for an hour and left the stage for Nepman who rocked the night with hits such as Ndidikireko and Na Lero as well as a rendition of Chauta Ngwa Mphamvu which he recorded with San B.

Ril B, famous for the hit Mwini Zinthu which he collaborated with Blaze, also gave a master class performance and fans went berserk with his hit Ungoziwa Chatha which saw fans asking for an encore.

Sam Smack completed the night countdown by offering some of his hits such as Sophia much to the delight of the fans.

A fan, Vilinyu Dzimbiri, who is also a radio presenter at Dzimwe Community Radio in Monkey Bay, said the show was a full package to the usually entertainment-starved people of Monkey Bay and the surrounding areas.

“We salute Afeyo Lodge for inviting Zembani Band to hold this show, we hope this will be continued to ensure more other bands are also invited”, said Dzimbiri.

Another patron, Yesaya Mlongwe, who came from Makawa Trading Centre hailed the band for putting up a classic performance.

“To be honest, this was a classic show. I have liked the coordination of the band’s musicians and those playing instruments. They were coordinating well and their performance was simply superb”, said Mlongwe.n
