They say music is powerful, but for Bvumbwe residents in Thyolo, they had to wait until Tuesday to nod to the notion with the launch of the Condomise Malawi theme song, Condomise Aise.

It was a different moment altogether unlike in previous campaigns where foreign music on condomising dominates the proceedings. The Bvumbwe campaign was different as it drew the patrons’ attention through the theme song.

Maybe, it is because of the brains behind it, Piksy, Young Kay and Lulu, only a first performance of the chorus was enough to draw the patrons into singing along and dancing.

Condomise Aise is not a single song. As you listen from one verse to another and then to the chorus, you can hardly ignore the provoking power in the song, to shake a muscle.

What is relevant is the instrumentation and the messaging which do not only appeal, but revives the importance of a healthy future. However, the song slips up as mixes from one part to the other.

“Tsogolo lako uliganizire, yeah, yes, tsogolo lako sungakalipire, inde ndimoyo wako, but Condomize aise yeah yeah turn up the love ada, ndimoyo wako, but condomise aise, yeah yeah turn up the love ada,” goes in part the hit which is English and Chichewa languages. The combination of three artist throws the hit in an own class as you watch the three on stage. Renowned for his stage antics, Lulu does not only add stunning voice to the song, but also a natural music stage image and nothing can be ignored in Piksy and Young Kay.

“We were serious when we were coming up with the song. I made the beat and wanted to make it different and put some Malawian flavour while ensuring that it targets the youths,” said Piksy in an interview.

Milika Mdala, reproductive health commodity security officer, said the song is adding value to the campaign saying it is attracting people to their events. She added that it has created an opportunity for the music fans in rural areas to meet their artists, and indeed, this was bold during the event as hundreds of patrons in attendance exposed their thirsty with a continued demand for more songs from each artist.

In random interviews, some patrons hailed the artists for the theme song and for watching the three live on stage, with some saying watching Lulu on stage doing Ndzalera was a historical moment.
