LWB has embarked on a campaign to disconnect water supply to customers found using hoses to water their gardens or lawns.

Speaking on the sidelines of the disconnection exercise, LWB deputy public relations officer Vanessa Chidyaonga said using hose pipes to water gardens contributes to depletion of water reserves.

She said: “The capital city is experiencing water shortages because we did not have enough rains. We have been advertising in newspapers, radios and television stations on the need to conserve water by not using hosepipes. We recommended the use of watering cans to water plants. But the call has not been heeded as some institutions continue to defy our directive.”

Chidyaonga said the water wasted on lawns could be used to supply areas experiencing shortage critical shortages

Among the affected institutions during this exercise are the Africa Institute of Corporate Citizenship and National Initiative for Civic Education (Nice) who are housed in Mpico House in City Centre.
