“[But] my husband will be in Blantyre most of the times for performances and rehearsals,” Chigo told The Nation.

Black Missionaries leader Anjiru Fumulani in an interview with The Nation assured fans that Chokani will always be part of the band.

“Chokani has moved to Mzuzu to be close to his mother-in-law who is not well. Taku has followed the wife who is taking care of the ailing mother,” said Anjiru.

The ‘maBlacks’ leader Chokani’s move will not affect the band as the lead guitarist will be in Blantyre most times and performing on their concerts.

Chokani is expected to be in Blantyre every weekend and we will perform with the band.

Anjiru also revealed that Black Missionaries are recording a new album.

“But the good thing is the most part [of the album] was done already. We will rehearse here unless there is something really pressing that he has to do in Mzuzu,” he said.

Chokani and his brother Paul are principal members of the Black Missionaries, having played with the band’s founder, legendary artist Evison Matafale as part of the Wailing Brothers Band when the reggae musician started performing in 2000.

The pair then joined Matafale on his Kuimba 2 project a year later when he parted ways with the Wailing Brothers to found Black Missionaries.

They have been part of the band’s set-up since, with Takudziwani playing the lead guitar and Paul on drums.

Black Missionaries have started recording Kuyimba 10 and they have promised singles from the album to be ready by April.
