If I were

Madam Joyce Banda

President of the Republic of Malawi, I would realise that much as I have achieved in just over 100 days in office, I would not sit on my laurels as there are still a lot of challenges on my desk.

I would realise, if I were JB, that much as I have addressed some serious problems like fuel and forex shortages that almost crippled the economy, there is still an awful lot of expectations from a country reeling under economic, governance and political problems.

Yes, I have tried to turn things around and the issue of winning back donor confidence comes to mind, but I would realise ‘ma’am’ that there is security breakdown down as evidenced by increasing cases of umbanda and lawlessness.

If I were you, I certainly would take advantage of the over 100 days I have been in office to reflect on my achievements and challenges.

I would appreciate, if I were my good ‘ole mum Joyce Hilda Mtila Banda that my government is also seen not to be respecting the Constitution in full and Section 65 comes to mind.

How I wish I were JB, because I would also ease down the gear on firing people from public service that were deemed to be close to the previous regime because not all of them were incapable.

That is if I were JB, fortunately I am not the President of the Republic of Malawi.
