Malawi, TZ to meet early next year

The relationship between the two neighbouring nations has lately been bad-tempered since Tanzania claimed that part of Lake Malawi belongs to her territory.

Tanzania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation said in a statement issued last week the planned Joint Permanent Cooperation of Commission (JPCC) conference will bring together experts from the two nations to deliberate on various issues of cooperation.

“The experts will also come up with new areas of cooperation and set strategies of implementing joint projects that will be agreed upon,” said the ministry in a statement published by Tanzania’s Daily News December 8 2016 edition.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation spokesperson Rejoice Shumba confirmed the proposed meeting in response to a questionnaire on Sunday.

She said the next Malawi and Tanzania JPCC meeting was scheduled for Lilongwe and diplomatic communication has so far been exchanged. n
