Listen to this article

The Malawi Rural Electrification Programme (Marep) is set to extend to health facilities in the country following a motion by Dedza East member of Parliament (MP) Juliana Lunguzi (Malawi Conress Party-MCP).

According to Lunguzi, the development will attract health personnel to be deployed to rural health centres, thereby improving service delivery at district level.

Kasungu Central MP Amon Nkhata (MCP) said the move will help doctors to delegate some duties as opposed to them travelling all the way just to help one patient.

Minister of Natural Resources, Energy and Mining Bright Msaka earlier said Marep would reach more centres as the project advances.
