The Southern Region Football Association (SRFA) has said  last season’s prize presentation ceremony for the Masters Security Services League will be held this Friday in Blantyre.

The development comes after SRFA complained about their sponsor’s delay to present prizes to the winners which led to the league seeking Football Association of Malawi’s (FAM) intervention.

SRFA chairperson Raphael Humba yesterday said they have now reached an agreement.

“Masters Security Services management has assured us that they are ready to present the prizes this Friday and we are relieved because clubs were inquiring when they would get their prizes,” he said.

Humba also said the tentative kick-off date for the 2018 season is April 21.

“We are hoping that between now and then, we can carry out the registration process,” he said.

Masters Security Services sponsor the league to the tune of K10.5 million.

Nchalo United FC chairperson Peter Chiipanthenga—whose club won the Premier League championship—said the K1.8 million prize money will help them meet some of their costs in the TNM Super League.

Runners-up Prison United will get K1 million the same as Division One champions while runners-up get K500 000.

The company’s business development manager Christopher Njeula was quoted by Blantyre Synod Radio yesterday that they are committed to the sponsorship.
