Mbilizi’s pure quality shone like a beacon as she also had the longest drive on hole 15. That was not all. She was also nearest to the pin on hole 14.

Mbilizi said she found the going easy because the greens were playing well and warned that she intends to continue from where she left off last year and win many tournaments this year.

In the men’s category, 18 handicaped Bulawayo emerged the winner with 37 points. He counted out Yohane Mzuza (16 h/c) while former BSC golf captain John-Gift Mwakhwawa (10 h/c) was third with 36 points.

Bulawayo said he did not expect to win but made it a point to take it slowly as it was wet because of the rains.

“I will continue to train hard as my target is to win at least three tournaments this year having only won one last year,” he said.

Nearest to the pin for men on hole one was Isaac Kalebe while Dingaan Chirwa had the longest drive on hole two.

Into Sports managing director Shabir Ismael said he sponsored the tournament because he is into sports merchandise business and that most golfers are his clients as well.

He expressed happiness with the turn up despite the rains and announced that Into Sports will sponsor another tournament in Lilongwe in August.

BSC golf captain Webster Kaunga thanked Into Sports for the sponsorship and beautiful prizes and said the club will be busy with tournaments this year.

A field of 73 golfers took part in the tournament.
