Mchinji Police arrest three child abductors

Law enforcers in Mchinji have arrested three people on allegations that they kidnapped and unlawfully holding three minors with an aim of making love with them.

Mchinji Police Station public relations officer (PRO) Inspector Kaitano Lubrino identified the suspects as Cassim Asima, 20, Pilirani Lembani, 19, both of Robert IV Village, and Matias Banda, 19, of Kalonga Village, all from traditional authority (T/A) Zulu in the district.

Lubrino said they were keeping the three victims in the same house (block) where they wanted to have sex with them later.

“This was revealed on November 5 2016 when a woman lodged a complaint about her missing daughter. The mother strongly suspected the girl had been kidnapped by the suspects,” he explained.

He said upon receiving the complaint, the police mounted investigations which led to the arrest of the suspects.

“The girls who are in standard 3, 5, and 6 respectively and are under the age of fifteen were indeed traced by police and were found doing gambling in the said house,” he said.

Lubrino expressed grief that despite series of community sensitizations and awareness against the dangers and legal complications on early marriages and sexual exploitations, these cases continue to rise in the district.

The three will appear in court once investigations are through to answer a charge of abduction.
