Malawi Defence Force (MDF) Commander General Griffin Supuni-Phiri has commended TNM for the hospital donation project, describing it as something that changes people’s lives.

Supuni-Phiri was reacting to the K3 million-worth of medical equipment that Kamuzu Barracks Football Club donated to Dowa District Hospital on Friday.

The money for buying the medical equipment was provided by TNM through their corporate social responsibility provision while league champions donate medical equipment to a hospital of their choice.

Speaking on behalf of the commander,  KB chairperson Major Gift Njete said the MDF boss was touched by the gesture shown by TNM.

“As MDF, we are grateful and we applaud TNM for this caring initiative.  Through such donations, lots of lives get saved.  The fact that you have given KB an opportunity to donate the equipment to the hospital of their choice is greatly appreciated,” reads the MDF commander’s speech delivered by Njete.

Hundreds of people cheered Kamuzu Barracks players when they donated the equipment.

TNM senior manager responsible for public relations Akossa Mphepo said her company will continue charity works as a way of saying ‘thank you’ to their customers.

Down district health officer Dr. Peter Makoza thanked KB for choosing the hospital.

“As you can see for yourself, the people of Dowa have been following your success. Thank you for donating here. We really were in need,” he said.

The items donated include delivery beds, trolleys and food for patients. n
