MDF decorates Mafco players, officials

Malawi Defence Force (MDF) has promoted 31 Mafco players and their nine officials for winning the Presidential Cup.

The lowest promotion was from Private Soldier to Corporal while the highest was Warrant Officer Class II to Class I.

Mafco chairperson Captain Chitumbu Chirambo and MDF spokesperson Captain Frank Kayanula confirmed the development on Wednesday, saying it had pleased the Army Commander General Henry Odillo to reward his troops for a job well-done.

Mafco beat Silver Strikers 9-8 in post-match penalties to be crowned champions.

“It is true that it has pleased our Commander to decorate members of the team as a sign of appreciation for the triumph,” said Chirambo.

“We are grateful to the Army Commander and the entire management of MDF. This will be a big boost to the team.”
