South Africa-based boxer Charles Mdoka has arrived in the country ahead of his national middleweight title-fight against Malawi Defence Force (MDF) boxer Alick Mwenda scheduled to take place at the Lilongwe Community Centre on March 25.

Mdoka has been involved in a verbal war with Mwenda on social media since Superior Boxing Promotions announced the fight in January.

Mwenda won the belt after beating Mwando

“Mwenda does not deserve to have that belt. When I heard that he is holding on to it, I challenged him. I left my base in Cape Town just to come and wrest the belt from him.

“I promise not only to wrest the belt from him, but also to end his boxing career. This is not personal, but Mwenda does not deserve to have that belt. It belongs to me,” said Mdoka.

This comes after the two boxers were involved in a mock fight at the M1 Centre Point on the sidelines of a non-title fight involving Chimwemwe Chiotcha and Simeon Tcheta.

Mwenda, who won the belt after defeating Brian Mwando last year in Blantyre, said he is ready for the challenge.

“He can’t take this belt away from me. I am not scared of him. He might be exposed to some good gyms and training facilities in South Africa, but boxing is about talent. I am in shape and I will knock him out,” said Mwenda.

Crispin Moliati faces Malani Kayuni in the main supporting fight.

“I have been idle for a long time. I promise to give my fans a good fight on March 25. I know how Kayuni fights and I promise victory,” he said.
