Meet basketball goes to Zomba

Malawi Environmental Endowment Trust (Meet) Basketball Tournament will have a feel of Chanco basketball courts as the second phase of the competition goes to Zomba this weekend.
The phase, which will see basketball players cleaning the surroundings of Zomba Central Hospital in the morning, will have five games tomorrow and one match on Sunday.

The 10-team competition started last week at the Blantyre Youth Centre (BYC) where at least 13 matches were played.
According to Southern Zone Basketball League (Sozobal) publicity secretary Dominic Moyo, they will roll the action with an encounter between Cobbe Barracks and Hi Flyerz before a match between Chanco and BDOLF.
“Then, Loxx 360 will take on Cobbe before Magang’a battles it out against BDOLF. Bricks and Cobbe will face off in the last game on Saturday. On Sunday, there will be one game between Cobbe and Crazy Warriors,” he said.
Currently, Bricks top the log table in group-A with six points from three wins. They are followed by Loxx (five points), Crazy Warriors (four), Hi Flyerz (two) and Cobbe (zero).
In group-B, Magang’a are at the summit with six points, the same as second-placed Mikoko and third-positioned CoM Lumbricals, who are inferior on basket difference. Chanco is fourth which four four points while BDOLF anchors the table with two points.
The K1 million contest, which aims to raise awareness on the preservation of the environment, is expected to wind up next week at the BYC.
