Four months after the shooting of former budget director Paul Mphwiyo, five people are expected to take plea today in the trial in which they are being charged with attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

The five who are expected to take pleas, according to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Bruno Kalemba, are former Minister of Justice Ralph Kasambara, businessperson Pika Manondo, Dauka Manondo, Robert Kadzuwa and Macdonald Kumwembe.

Pika and Kasambara are also facing separate charges of money laundering following their arrest last week in connection with a K55 million transaction for the purchase of a house done through Kasambara’s law firm, Ralph and Arnolds in July 2013.
