Business mogul Thom Mpinganjira, who is also chief executive officer of FDH Financial Holdings Limited, has advised young and aspiring entrepreneurs to desist from rushing into creating their own businesses before gaining reputation which is an asset for business growth.

Mpinganjira said this on Friday in Blantyre during the University of Malawi’s Chancellor College 2015 Economics Symposium.

He said: “You don’t have to rush into opening your business. What you need foremost is reputation, make a name and become a professional in your career and important people will be able to recognise you.

“In business, accessing loans is all about reputation which is built as a profession is developed.”

In his remarks, Secretary to the Treasury Ronald Mangani said the country needs economists to help in addressing some of the multifaceted challenges.

A representative of the class, Thokozile Gausi, appealed to the corporate world for job opportunities.

“We are focused on a goal, be it passing a test or graduating as first in the class,” she said.
