Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) has donated medical equipment worth K3 million towards this year’s Nation Publications Limited (NPL) Mother’s Day Fun Run.

Speaking at a ceremony at MRA offices in Blantyre on Wednesday, MRA corporate social responsibility officer Emma Mwasinga said the donation is an expression of the public tax collector’s commitment to improve the health and well-being of children and their mothers.

“The donations that we make are meant to support future taxpayers.  We would like our future taxpayers to be born in a good and safe environment and go to hospitals that have fully-fledged equipment.

“Every time we [MRA] have the capacity, we will make sure that we support everything that will promote the well- being of the taxpayer who is the core of our business,” she said.

In her remarks, NPL marketing officer Vanessa Mdala said the media house is grateful for the continuous support it receives from MRA.

“As NPL, we are grateful for the timely donation that MRA has given us. MRA has been a consistent partner in the fun run and we hope that this partnership continues as the programme continues.

“We would like to call on other organisations to replicate what MRA has done and donate to the fun run,” she said.

NPL conducts the Mother’s Fun Run to mobilise resources to improve safe notherhood in the country’s public hospitals.

The resources from this year’s fun run will be donated to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital and its health centres. n
