Mpingwe Sports Club (MSC) Silver emerged victorious in the 25-overs Inter-Cricket League (ICL) last weekend to successfully end the 2015 cricket season with a third title in four competitions.

They recently won the ICL 10-overs Tournament and the FMB Twenty-20 Knockout Tournament but, just like perfect hunters, they did not let complacency kill their appetite for more trophies. They beat MSC Orange by 35 runs on Sunday at Oriental Cricket Club (OCC).

Salim Popi was the driving force towards Silver’s victory as he made individual contribution of 57 runs and three wickets. No wonder he claimed the Man-of-the-Match accolade in the final. Sohel Goti, Tosif Rustam and Minhaz Aama also played pivotal role in Silver’s victory as they managed to make 29 runs, 22 runs and 15 runs, respectively.

Mohsin Jonty and Imtiyaz Badat tried their best to put Orange back in shape with 41 runs and 25 runs in that order but their contributions were not enough to end Silver’s predictable advantage.

“It has been a wonderful season for us. Winning three trophies in one season is no joke. Nevertheless, we will work extra hard to even achieve more success next year,” marvelled MSC Silver captain Saeed Limdawala.

Silver’s Aasif Rustam emerged the best bowler of the tournament while Orange found solace in producing Ismail Jada as best batsman. n
