As the countdown to this year’s Lake of Stars (LoS) Festival continues, organisers have announced that they will hold an outdoor teaser at Mzuzu Shoprite parking bay on Saturday as a way of paying homage to the region where the event was founded nearly a decade ago.

The event is free and competitions will run throughout the programme.

“The teaser party will feature live music, competitions and all the latest LoS news. The audience has a chance to win great prizes and to see our very own one-man band of Faith Mussa perform live.

“Children can enjoy the bouncy castle and face-painting and everybody can enjoy the rap battle competition that should have Mzuzu’s finest talent coming out of the shadows. There will also be a raffle draw,” reads a statement from the organisers.

The raffle draw tickets are selling at Sunbird Mzuzu Hotel and Joy’s Place in Mzuzu which are also outlets for LoS festival tickets.

As part of LoS corporate social responsibility activity, organisers have also partnered Root to Fruit, a tree-planting enterprise at Chintheche Inn, to reduce the festival’s carbon footprint.

“With global temperatures rising, Root to Fruit offers an easy and effective way to care for the climate and Malawian communities.

“One tree planted with Root to Fruit will cost just K1 500 and will not only off-set pollution from the average festival-goers’ travel within Malawi, but will also provide local communities with food, medicine, building materials, improved soil quality and income generation, among others,” adds the statement.

The LoS event takes place at Chintheche in Nkhata Bay from September 30 to October 2.
