Fitzgerald Simfukwe and Mediators Band will lead other Mzuzu-based reggae musicians as they conduct the post Martyr’s Day Reggae Jamming Music Concert to be held at Obrigado Leisure Park in Mzuzu on Sunday.

According to Simfukwe, only reggae music will be performed at the concert.

Lake-of-star-blacks“We have decided to take part in respecting our heroes who lost their lives so that we should enjoy the freedom we have. The show is quite different from other shows as we will have what we are terming Sun Downs Jam Session,” said Simfukwe.

He said Fideman Rise and Aka Fish Milingu Luhanga are some of the reggae artists to perform at the concert.

“Despite having the usual reggae artists such as Fideman Rise and Aka Fish Milingu, the door is open even to those artists who have not been officially invited to perform; anyone can come and perform as long as they bring a reggae track. As already explained, it will be reggae all over,” said Simfukwe.

The Mzuzu-based reggae artist said the show will also enable him to further expose some of his songs that relate with the Martyr’s Day theme.

“It will be a great event, we have done our homework and all guest artists invited have confirmed their participation to this reggae session,” he said.

Simfukwe launched his first album Lube Ukhale Panthengwa in 2003 before releasing Kadundulu two years later.

He said his songs that are in roots revival reggae preach oneness, unity, peace and love; hence, the link with Martyr’s Day.

“We are inspired by the Bible. Our songs go beyond entertainment and we seek that people should listen to the message and meditate,” said Simfukwe.

Before forming Mediators Band, Simfukwe played with Zembani Band, Black Missionaries and Tikhu Vibrations.
