Netball Association of Malawi (NAM) is planning to work with the Malawi Schools Sports Association (Massa) and Mary Waya Academy to come up with the Under-21 national team.

The association wants to have an Under-21 national team in readiness for Cosana Games to be hosted by Swaziland in January.mary-waya-academy

“Of course our technical team has identified some players, but we can’t reach all the corners of the country. We need to engage Massa so that we do not lose potential talent. The Mary Waya Academy is also another option for us. We hear there are some good players at the academy,” said NAM president Rosy Chinunda on Thursday in Lilongwe.

The Under -21 team was disbanded three years ago due to lack of resources on the part of NAM.

“We cannot expect growth of the Malawi Queens if we have no active junior teams. We are serious about having a very active under-21 team,” said Chinunda.

Massa general secretary Blackson Malamula said much as they are willing to assist NAM, they are handicapped.

“We are yet to have competitive netball tournaments in our schools,” said Malamula.
