Patience Namadingo has asked Malawi Polytechnic students to join in the fight against cancer by participating in a big walk slated May 24.

The march from Kamuzu Upper Stadium to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) is part of his music initiative to raise awareness on the disease and the plight of patients.

Namadingo: We want people who will come to the big walk to wear special T-shirts

The gospel musician sounded the call on Friday when he donated T-shirts for the cause to 15 Polytechnic students.

In an interview, he said university students are  instrumental in the fight against challenges affecting the country.

The T-shirts are going at K7 000 each ahead of the big walk which will mark the conclusion of a 40-day tour which saw Namadingo raising over K11 million for children undergoing cancer treatment at QECH.

“We want people who will come to the big walk to wear special T-shirts. I  realise that many want to come but they may not have the money to buy. I am also going around, donating some to people I feel can’t manage to buy,” said Namadingo.

Daud Mangomba and Maureen Mahenge, who are studying Bachelor of Arts in Business Communication students at the constituent  college of the University of Malawi (Unima), said they were touched by initiative to assist young cancer patients. n
