Malawi’s ex-Big Brother Africa (BBA) housemate, Natasha Tonthola, has revealled her ambition of becoming a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations (UN).

The Lilongwe-based businessperson, who is also a child and women’s rights activist, made her dreams known during an interview with The Nation earlier this week.

“I would love to become a UN Goodwill Ambassador for the girl child rights, girl child education and empowerment as well as vulnerable children and women in Malawi and Africa as a whole,” disclosed the buoyant Natasha.

Her revelation comes four years after the 27-year-old, fondly known as Mama Africa, launched Mama Africa Foundation Trust, which focuses on workplace and household gender-related issues.

The foundation aims to empower women economically by giving them adaptive tools and skills for sustainable livelihood in their communities.

Natasha is a victim of gender-based violence. She disclosed last year after her eviction from BBA The Chase that she was once married to an abusive husband; hence, her wish to fight for those oppressed in society, especially vulnerable girls that are married off at a tender age.

Sounding confident during the interview, Natasha pointed out that one day her dream would come to pass, saying “God is the God of possibilities, this is my life dream and one day it will come true”.

Last week, Natasha, who is also a self-styled designer, took the nation and Africa by surprise after she released #TIA This Is Africa”, a song marking the beginning of her music career.

The former BBA contestant, who was also among the 10 fake housemates that stormed the just ended BBA Hosthots, said music had been one of her hidden talents and now it was time for her to put it to use.

“I want people to take me seriously music-wise. T.I.A is the beginning of it all. I’m working on an album with Janta [a Lilongwe-based producer and singer] and it’s around the corner,” she explained.

“I have been a singer all my life, but now I am a brand that is destined to make a difference through music, which is like therapy to me,” added Natasha.

She, however, indicated that though she had ventured into music, her passion still remained charity and humanitarian.
