NBS system collapses
NBS Bank’s Core Banking System has collapsed, leaving customers unable to withdraw money from auto-teller machines as well as inside the bank.
The system has been down since Monday.
In other service centers, such as the one at Chichiri Shopping Center in Blantyre, customers around midday were only allowed to deposit cash, but could not make withdrawals.
In many NBS service centers, all bank transactions were not possible.
Today, NBS has not opened most service centers across the country because of the same problem. For instance, as of 11am, Ntcheu and Kasungu Service centers remained closed.
A notice on one of the center’s door read: “Please be informed that the banking system is still down due to a technical problem that happened yesterday. We are working on restoring the services. We expect normal banking services to resume by 10 amtoday (Tuesday).
This morning, the bank’s chief executive officer Bernadette Mandoloma alongside Chief Finance Officer, head of personal and business banking and chief operations officer briefed journalists on the situation.

now that the journalists were briefed by the CEO and the CFO, what did they say is the problem? i expected you to give us a fully baked story not this. people really need to know why they should be having problems accessing their own money.
