Partners in Health on Friday commemorated the World Tuberculosis (TB) Day at a function held at Zalewa in Neno District under the theme Unite to End TB.

A Partners in Health official explains how they collect data
The day, which falls on March 24, seeks to build public awareness on the disease which kills nearly 1.5 million people each year worldwide, especially in developing countries.

Partners in Health executive director Dr. Luckson Dullie said his organisation has been working in Neno for the past 10 years with TB and HIV and Aids as its main priorities.
Neno district health officer Dr Lawrence Nazimera concurred with Dullie, saying TB cases are still high in the district.

He said: “We are only being able to detect 35 percent of TB cases as of now from the 85 percent target.” 
