Ngalande suffers ankle injury

Flames striker Robin Ngalande will learn more about the severity of his ankle injury after limping off when his Ajax Cape Town lost 1-0 to South Africa Premiership leaders Kaizer Chiefs on Wednesday night.

After half-time break, Ngalande emerged from Johannesburg’s FNB Stadium dressing room with his left ankle heavily strapped by an icepack.

He was replaced by Keegan Dolly in Ajax’s attack. By that time, Chiefs had scored already through Mandla Masango to stay top on 47 points whereas Ajax lie sixth on 28 points from 20 games.

In other matches, coach Kinnah Phiri’s Free State Stars recorded a fourth consecutive draw to remain fourth from bottom after coming from behind to hold Orlando Pirates 1-1 in Phuthaditjhaba.

Pirates got an early goal from Kermit Erasmus, only for Moeketsi Sekola to equalise against the fourth-placed Pirates who have 35 points.
