Machinga district education manager (DEM) Sarah Khozi has commended Heart to Heart Foundation, a local non-governmental organisation, for provision of better health services to pupils in schools.

Khozi made the remarks on Tuesday at Matiti Junior Primary School in Traditional Authority (T/A) Chikweo in Machinga, when the organisation handed over sanitary facilities to the school.

She said diseases can be reduced in the district if pupils follow preventive measures to keep themselves healthy all day long.

“We are thankful to the Heart to Heart Foundation for the positive gesture towards improving health in schools. We hope some diseases will be history at the school,” said Khozi.

Heart to Heart Foundation director Boice Nyirenda said his organisation wants pupils to learn in an environment that is free from sicknesses.

Sanitation facilities included toilets and borehole. Other schools that benefited from the initiative include Matamanda, Chitundu and Msalabani. n
