No time for excursions

For the whole of last week in Blantyre, there were threats of thunderous rains. The previous week was even worse. The rains fell and many buildings and vehicles were destroyed. Probably because of poor drainage system, there were floods in Blantyre roads.

Chief Kazingist decided to stay at his Namiyango base. It was not time for an excursion. Staying at home was the best option. Of course, he is aware of the problems associated with staying at home.

This other day, he was broke and thought of watching television at home. Things started in the morning. He heard the sound of a plate falling down, then a tumbler broken. He then went out.

“So you have broken a tumbler, what happened?” Asked Chief Kazingist.

MG1 came from behind the house after she heard the chief man of the skirt talking to his niece.

“These things happen almost every day. In fact, why are you here today? You are creating unnecessary tension,” she said.

Chief Kazingist did not respond. He then returned to the sitting room to watch television. He sat down and took his cell phone. There were three missed calls. Although Chief Kazingist does not return calls whose numbers he has not saved, he decided to call it.

“I am Chimbowere from Liwonde. Can we meet at Green Valley?” He asked. “I am on my way,” replied Chief Kazingist. It was a simple decision to make because he could not cope with problems at his home.

When the chief man of the skirt reached Green Valley, Chimbowere was not there. After half an hour, he decided to call him.

“I am coming shortly. Tell the barman to give you two beers,” he said. Chief Kazingist was thirsty so he called for two bottles of Green.

An hour passed but Chimbowere was still nowhere to be seen. Chief Kazingist started to be worried. He called him again.

“Are you safe wherever you are? I am very worried,” he asked.

“I am very fine and I am coming shortly,” he said.

A few minutes later, Chimbowere arrived. He looked sad which was very unusual to him.

“He was very heavy and I am tired,” replied Chimbowere.

“What are you talking about?” Chief Kazingist asked.

“You mean you do not know that someone threatened to hang himself?” Chimbowere asked.

“What was the reason?” Asked Chief Kazingist.

“He wanted to hang himself because a coordinator refused five times to be his girlfriend. He said there was no point of living when women do not like him,” said Chimbowere.

“That is not the reason one should lose life for. My father told me that even if I am sentenced to death and a police officer has accidentally left a gun, I should never kill myself,” said Chief Kazingist. n
