Nomads ask Mazembe for Luka’s loan extension

Mighty Be Forward Wanderers are optimistic about finalising a one-year loan extension for attacker Luka Milanzi from his parent club TP Mazembe of DR Congo.

Wanderers general secretary Mike Butao on Thursday confirmed that Milanzi, who is yet to debut for Mazembe senior squad, was still at the Lali Lubani Road.

“We are finalising the loan extension for another year,” said Butao.

Milanzi joined Nomads last season via yet another loan spell in Zambia with Zesco United. Despite Milanzi not scoring last season, Wanderers are happy with his work rate.

“In principle, TP Mazembe already agreed because they are happy with the continuous performance reports we have been giving them about Luka during his loan spell. What is remaining is the official document to FAM,” Butao added.

The former Escom United and Malawi Under-17 captain is hoping to fully recapture the form that made him the 2010 joint TNM Super League Golden Boot awardee on 17 goals.

Milanzi said Mazembe would like to eventually see him bounce back to the national team. He has three years remaining on his Mazembe contract.

Another Malawian at Mazembe, Joseph Kamwendo, is featured sparingly due to stiff competition in midfield, which has stars such as Zambia’s captain Rainford Kalaba.
