Mighty Wanderers delighted in the 2-1 win over their arch-rivals Big Bullets in a TNM Super League match on Saturday, saying they had the last laugh.

Midfielder Joseph ‘Shakira’ Kamwendo, who scored a spectacular goal said the Bullets got their just deserts.

“When they scored first, they were over the moon as if they had already won. They were calling us akazi awo and things like that. Now we wonder what they are going to say,” said Kamwendo.

Nomads general secretary David Kanyenda said the victory gave his side the spring in the fight for Carlsberg sponsorship.

He also claimed that they showed great character by beating their rivals without a number of their key players, who were injured.

However, Bullets captain Fischer ‘Anong’a’ Kondowe said they will come out stronger in the second round.

“But, all the same, I salute Wanderers for the win. It was an exciting match that took the fans down the memory lane when the derby was worth its magnitude. I think the injury of our first-choice goalkeeper contributed to our loss,” said Fischer.
