Nomads reshuffle technical set-up

Mighty Be Forward Wanderers have unveiled technical changes aimed at rejuvenating the Lali Lubani Road outfit.

Among other changes, the Nomads have confirmed the hiring of their age-old rivals Big Bullets former coaches Elia Kananji and Eddingtone Ng’onamo as coach and development and training manager respectively.

BeForward_nomads_club_houseThe Nomads’ general secretary Mike Butao also disclosed in a response to a questionnaire yesterday that technical director Yasin Osman will head technical and team affairs and his position has been changed to manager.

“He will also have a slightly more hands-on role in terms of coaching than he had as technical director while remaining as overall manager of all our three teams [senior, reserve and youth.

“Elia comes in as coach for the senior team [and] this means Kannock Munde, who was acting as coach, reverts to his official role as team manager with Tom Milanzi as his deputy,” stated Butao.

Commenting on Ng’onamo’s role, Butao said his main focus will be overall supervision and management of both the reserve and youth teams.

“These two teams already have their own coaches, but Eddie will just provide the direction and overall management as well as playing philosophy of the senior team so that when a player comes through the ranks into the main team, he will be ready to go. We believe this will help us reap maximum benefits from this set-up,” said Butao.

The Nomads GS said their hope is that in three years at most, the Nomads will no longer buy players from other clubs.

“Players promoted from the Under-20 will first go into the reserve side, that way we believe the transition will be smooth,” he said.

Osman welcomed the development, saying [strategic] direction is what was lacking.
