He called on the officers to reflect on their health for the benefit of their communities and families.

“We are remembering our fellow officers who died of Aids. Those with the virus should avoid multiple sexual relations. Be faithful to your partner and follow health tips, we need you to discharge your duties effectively,” said Lambart.

He asked organisations to come forward and help the police with health information on HIV and Aids from time to time.

Limbe station officer, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police Gloria Nkhoma, said the police is leaving no stone unturned in preventing new HIV infections in Malawi Police Service.

“Police are well informed on HIV and Aids-related issues. We use two percent of the government subvention on HIV issues. It is true our job involves field work but we have to be faithful for our good health,” said Nkhoma.

Police regional Aids coordinator, Superintendent Elube Jere, encouraged police officers to know their HIV status to plan for the future.

Some of the activities that charactised the event included a big walk by police officers from Limbe Health Centre to Limbe Police Station, prayers, drama and dances.

The function was held under the theme ‘Support the future of people living with HIV’.
