President of the Republic of Malawi, I would appreciate that while my address at the opening of the 46th session of Parliament in Lilongwe last Friday was forthright and honest, the nation expects my government to walk the talk on areas such as controlling expenditure and inflation. If I were APM, I would realise that it is one thing to admit that the nation is going through tough times, and yet another to provide solutions—and my government should lead the way in responding to the challenging times the country is facing through hard work and financial prudence. Oh yes, if I were APM, I would realise that avoiding bloated delegations to international engagements is one way Malawians will judge as to whether I am indeed serious or if at all the address was just lip service. If I were the President, I would further realise that while my address was short and sweet to the ear, in itself, it fell short of outlining how government intends to rescue the economic crisis. That is if only I were the President of the Republic of Malawi, but it is, of course, a mere wish
