Lilongwe-based hip-hop artist Phyzix, real name Noel Chikoleka, is planning big in the year 2015, disclosing that he contemplates releasing his Gamba Wa Suitalbum.

Speaking in an exclusive interview on Tuesday, Phyzix, who gate-crashed onto the music scene with his Cholapitsa single in 2006 before releasing his debut albumThe Lone Ranger in 2009, believes he is now matured; hence, the album on the cards is about his growth both as an individual and as a musician.

“It is the story of a polished hustler [Gamba] with the same drive and passion for success. Gamba wa suit has interests and respect for God, life, law and order, education, culture, politics ,entrepreneurship, relationship management, peace, sales, marketing, hit records, collaborations, events, fashion, good health, happiness and a position of power in music and entertainment,” revealed Phyzix, a marketer by profession.

The rapper described the album as a well-balanced individual in the tripartite nature of man or body, mind and soul.

He added: “This album is a celebration of life. It is about following one’s bliss.”

Phyzix, who is pursuing his marketing career at Opportunity Bank, and took a three year break from music since 2011, said he has now studied the people, the music, and the music industry structures in place, the missing links as well as the growth potential in the industry.

He also said there is great demand from people to see him performing live as well as have his music in videos.

“I am not only going for the hit records, but I am also going for control in music and entertainment. My fans have been loyal to me from day one and I will reciprocate the loyalty. My new music is enjoying massive support. People have embraced the new brand of Phyzix and so I will give them more.”

Commenting on the hip-hop music industry in general, Phyzix described the industry as ‘booming’ and that most musicians are positioning themselves to fit well into the global hip hop culture.

He said elsewhere in the world, hip hop artists are able to endorse products and presidential candidates, influencing lifestyle and culture saying the Malawi music industry also has potential to do the same.
