Prison United were, at the weekend, the biggest climbers and scorers in the Southern Region Football Association Premier Division after registering 14 goals in two matches to keep alive their distant TNM Super League promotion hopes.

The probable team of the week Prison dished out hard football lessons to Polytechnic FC with a 7-0 battering in Zomba through Osman Banda, Yamikani Kachala’s double (each) and one goal each from Emmanuel Kamowa and Lawson Chilewe, formerly of Mighty Wanderers.

On Sunday, also in Zomba, Prison posted a similar win over Chitakale to jump from seventh to fifth on the 20-member table with 51 points from 27 games.

Up the table, second-placed Max Bullets piled up pressure on leaders FC Surestream Academy after winning two games to amass 60 points.

Coached by former Mighty Wanderers and Big Bullets star McDonald Yobe, Max Bullets thrashed Mangochi Police 3-1 on Sunday with former Blantyre United striker Chikondi Mpulula on the scoresheet once whereas Chasimbiwe Kanyika claimed a brace.

Max Bullets also beat Green Hawks 2-0 on Saturday in Blantyre, to remain five points behind Surestream who beat Azam Tigers Reserve 2-1 on Saturday, through two-goal hero Bernard Chimaimba.

Down the table, Cobbe Barracks were in a devastating form as they gunned down Ndirande Icons 2-0 on Sunday. On Saturday, they registered a similar result against Machinga ADD.
