The aim of the fundraising activity was to utilise the social media facility to raise funds to donate to individual players of the Queens in appreciation of their exploits at the 2015 Netball World Cup where they again finished on sixth position.

“As a long-term strategy, we are in the process of incorporating a trust or company limited by guarantee and thereafter we will open an account into which all net income resources will be deposited.

“We have been encouraged by the response and the success of the drive and the feeling is that we should be proactive to contribute towards our Queens’ needs i.e preparations and welfare,” said Chalamba.

Chalamba and Queens captain Caroline Mtukule-Ngwira also thanked all those who contributed towards the cause.

The administrators released a report covering the aim, objectives, goings-on, income and expenditure as well as a reflective piece of the fundraising campaign.

“We are very thankful to all those who contributed in cash or kind towards the campaign and on behalf of my fellow players, I would like to express our deep appreciation,” said Mtukule-Ngwira.
