Funds permitting, the Netball Association of Malawi (NAM) plans to start Queens camp next week ahead of their trip to England in December.

While in England, Queens are scheduled to play three games with the hosts following an invite.

“We planned to start camp soon after the GOtv Netball finals scheduled for this weekend. But the camp will depend on the timely release of money by government. It is important that we regroup fast,” said NAM president Rosy Chinunda.

She said they have requested about K30 million for the team to travel to the UK.

“We are grateful to government for always assisting us. On our own, we cannot manage. We have been given assurance that Capital Hill will release funds. We are also grateful to Airtel Malawi for their continued support,” said Chinunda.

She said the arrangement with England Netball is that the Queens will take care of air tickets and camp expenses while the hosts will provide accommodation, food and internal travel expenses.

“They [England Netball] have been generous to us. It is a good deal,” said Chinunda.

The Queens will play their first game at Echo Arena in Liverpool on December 14, the second match at the Copper Box in London on December 17 and the third and final games on December 20 at the University Arena in Worcester.
