In her remarks, Chikwawa Red Cross project officer Cecelia Banda said they are confident the committees will act swiftly before disasters destroy life and property.

She said: “Malawi Red Cross Society is implementing a disaster risk management project in the district. The project seeks to improve the early warning systems.”

Chikwawa district assistant DRR officer Francis Kadzokoya commended MRCS for the efforts to alleviate the suffering of people who are affected by floods every year. n
