Chief director for Public Sector Reforms Management Unit in the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC), Seodi White, has asked heads of government departments in Mchinji to ensure that their reforms implementation plans transform the district.

White made the appeal in Mchinji on Friday when she addressed heads of departments in the district on the Public Service Reforms Programme.

White: Come up with activities which should
improve service delivery

She said government established the reforms programme to improve efficiency, effectiveness and professionalism in service delivery; hence, the need for all the planned activities to reflect that.

Said White: “As a council, you should come up with activities which should improve service delivery in the district, not the routine work you usually do.”

In her remarks, Mchinji district commissioner Rosemary Nawasha said the council has put in place revenue enhancement strategies to increase the revenue base.

She said: “One of the biggest reforms agendas is to improve financial management and the council has in the past months instituted by laws to improve revenue generation.”

Mchinji District Council is also working on programmes to reduce maternal and neonatal rate as part of reforms programme. n
