After a poor start in the Rainbow Paints Southern Region Netball League (SRNL) over a week ago, Tigresses have upped their game to win three successive games and get to the summit of the log-table.

The tide swung their way on Saturday when they thrashed Young Professionals 87-19 at Blantyre Youth Centre.

Tigresses (in yellow) have won three successive games

Tigresses, who began their title campaign with a 39-39 draw with Prison Sisters, also chalked 45-31 win over Chilomoni Sisters and 81-14 victory over Gerald Tasaukadala Sisters in midweek encounters.

They now top the table with 10 points from four games. Thunder Queens, who beat Chilomoni Sisters 73-39 on Saturday, are second with nine points from three straight-wins.

Defending champions Kukoma Diamonds, who were scheduled to face Prison Sisters at Cobbe Barracks in Zomba as we went to press, are third on the ladder with six points from two games, the same as fourth-positioned Serenity Stars (formerly Alliance Capital Stars).

“We have built a new youthful team, which has now gained the much-needed confidence. We will do our best to maintain the winning record in our next fixtures,” Tigresses team manager Hellene Mpinganjira-Tasosa said.

According to SRNL general secretary Annie Hanjahanja-Billie, they will squeeze more midweek fixtures into the league so as to compensate for the delayed throw off. n
